Mission Statement

Gathered and Sent ... Living Faith

Gathered and Sent

The Christian Life is one of being gathered in the name of the triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) where together we worship and praise God, study God's word and learn and grow in faith together.  We also gather for mutual support and fellowship.  However, we are also sent back out into our daily lives where we live our faith out and where we share the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed.

Living Faith

...Cuts two ways.  Having a living faith means that our faith is vibrant and responsive, mature and growing.  Living faith-fully in our every day experiences, connecting our actions and decisions with God's word is part of our Baptismal call.

Living faith often begins with imagination.  It takes a certain amount of Holy Imagination to see God's hand in the world around us and to see that which God is calling us to be.

Imagine. Look and see! Be astonished! Be astounded!

For a work is being done in your days that you would not believe if you were told.

(Habakkuk 1:4)

This text from Habakkuk has become an important verse for us as a congregation.  It has  been the Biblical foundation for Our Savior's visioning work over the last several years.  In a way, it is saying "Expect change!"  Good change!  That is the promise of a living faith.  We want our congregation to grow in faith just as we each need to continue to grow and mature in faith personally.  As we grow and mature, there will be signs of change - good change!

Vision

(Based on our constitution and also reflected in 'The Purpose Driven Life' by Rick Warren)

* Worship - we were planned for God's pleasure (it's not about me!)

* Education and Fellowship - we were formed for God's family.

* Discipleship and Stewardship - we were created to become like Christ.

* Ministry and Mission - we were shaped for serving God.

* Witness - we were made for sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Core Values

* Great Gifts have been given to us as Baptized Children of God.  In Christ we have been given forgiveness, salvation and eternal life. We call that 'God's Grace'.  (Ephesians 2:8)

* Great Commitment to sharing these gifts is our response to God's gift of grace. (2 Timothy 1:9)

* Great Commandment is to  'Love God with all your mind, with all your heart and love your neighbors as yourself.'  (Matthew 22:37-40)

* Great Commission is to 'Go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.'  (Matthew 28:37-40)
